Meet Jerry Maurer
Founder & Owner of Photo Fly Memories | Certified Photo Manager
For Jerry Maurer, preserving family memories isn't just a business. It's personal.
As the founder and owner of Photo Fly Memories, based in Bellmore, Long Island, Jerry has turned his lifelong passion for photography, video production, storytelling, and family history into a business dedicated to helping families preserve their most treasured memories.
With decades of experience in all facets of photography and video production, Jerry has spent much of his professional life capturing and creating meaningful moments. He also owned and operated a successful wedding video production business for three years, helping brides and grooms relive one of the most important days of their lives through beautifully preserved wedding memories.
But Jerry's appreciation for family memories goes far beyond his professional experience.
As his family's unofficial archivist, Jerry has always cherished old photographs, home movies, and the stories behind them. After experiencing the heartbreaking loss of his mother, older sister, and brother-in-law, his passion for preserving family history became even more personal. Creating celebration-of-life videos and photo tributes for loved ones reinforced something he had always believed: Photographs aren't just pictures. They're priceless connections to the people and moments we never want to forget.
That realization eventually inspired Jerry to establish Photo Fly Memories.
Today, Jerry is a Certified Photo Manager, Certified Printed Photos Specialist, and Certified Video Montage & Slideshow Specialist, combining decades of creative experience with professional training and a genuine passion for helping others.
Through Photo Fly Memories, Jerry helps families organize, digitize, and preserve printed photographs, photo albums, slides, VHS tapes, home movies, and other treasured keepsakes. Whether it's a few shoeboxes tucked away in a closet or thousands of inherited photographs spanning generations, he approaches every project with patience, care, and personal attention.
Jerry understands that most families want to preserve their memories but simply don't have the time or expertise to tackle what can feel like an overwhelming project. His goal is to take that burden off their shoulders and transform years of disorganized memories into a lasting, accessible family legacy.
He also partners with professional home organizers, real estate professionals, and other trusted advisors to help families navigating life's transitions, including moving, downsizing, and managing inherited collections.
Even the name Photo Fly Memories has special meaning. Inspired by the cherished family nickname "Butterfly Grandma," it reflects the importance of family, love, and keeping memories alive.
Jerry lives on Long Island with his wife, Lori, and treasures spending time with what he affectionately calls his “Core Seven,” his close-knit family of seven, including their two daughters, their spouses, and his beloved mother-in-law. For Jerry, there's nothing more meaningful than creating new memories together, sharing old stories, and celebrating life's special moments. It's this deep appreciation for family that inspires his work at Photo Fly Memories, helping other families preserve the moments and people they cherish most.
For Jerry, the greatest reward isn't simply completing a project. It's knowing that photographs and home movies once forgotten in boxes and closets can now be rediscovered, shared, and enjoyed for generations.
"Your photos deserve more than a shoebox."
For Jerry, Photo Fly Memories is more than preserving photographs. It's about preserving the people, stories, and moments that make every family unique.
