Tired of Photos That Are Lost, Fading, or Forgotten?

Photo Fly Memories is Brooklyn, Long Island and the Tri-state area's dedicated photo preservation specialist, bringing archival-quality care, professional digitizing, and a personal touch that big box services simply can't offer. We treat your photos like family heirlooms, because that's exactly what they are.

"I'm Jerry Maurer, a Certified Photo Manager living on Long Island, and for me, this work is deeply personal. I treat every photograph I touch with the care and attention I'd want given to my own family's memories, one image at a time, using professional equipment, proper lighting, and careful handling.

And while I live on Long Island today, Brooklyn has always been a special part of my family's story. My mother grew up and lived in Brooklyn, I grew up in Midwood and later lived in Sheepshead Bay, and I still have family right here in Park Slope. So being able to help Park Slope families preserve their own histories has a special meaning for me.

I'm not a big box service or a mail in operation. I personally care for your photographs and memories from pickup through delivery. I take preserving your family's history as seriously as if it were my own.

Take the next step to schedule your free photo consultation. It will be give me the opportunity to learn more about your family project, answer your questions, and help you any way I can.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does this cost?

Great question, and it depends on your project!

Here's how pricing works:

Digitizing Print Photos:

  • Photo scanning is $1 per photo — so if you have 500 prints, that's $500 for scanning
  • Labor (removing photos from albums, sorting, organizing, adding metatagging, and uploading to the cloud) is $100/hour

The best way to get an accurate number is to start with a free discovery call. Within 48 hours of drop-off, I'll provide a written good faith estimate so there are no surprises.

Digitizing Old Media

  • $20 per VHS/VHC-c/DVD/Hi8 or MiniDV
  • $35 per 16mm, 8mm and Super8 Film Digitization 4.5" & Under, Synchronous Audio Capture
  • $65 per 6mm, 8mm and Super8 Film Digitization 5" & Over, Synchronous Audio Capture

External Storage (required to save your photos and videos)

  • USB Thumb drive 1 TB - $200
  • Sandisk 1 TB Pro Portable DDS External Drive - $250
  • Sandisk 2 TB Pro Portable DDS External Drive - $275

Video Montages

  • Starting at $495 - includes 100 photos.

Do I have to come to you, or can you come to me?

Both! I offer full white glove service — I can drive directly to you for pickup and return delivery, or you're welcome to drop off and pick up at my North Bellmore location, whichever is most convenient for you.

The first 25 miles round trip is always included at no charge. For pickups beyond that, a travel fee of $0.70 per mile applies for the additional mileage. I'll always let you know upfront during our discovery call exactly what to expect — no surprises, ever.

Either way, your memories are handled with the utmost care from the moment they leave your hands to the moment they're returned.

How does the process work, start to finish?

It's a simple, stress-free process:

  1. We start with a free discovery call to learn about your photos and your goals
  2. I'll share best practices and ballpark pricing right on that call
  3. We schedule a pick-up or drop-off
  4. I provide a good faith estimate within 48 hours of receiving your photos
  5. I get to work — sorting, organizing, scanning, metataging, and uploading everything to a secure cloud library
  6. You get back a beautifully organized digital collection you can enjoy and share for years!

How long will it take to get my photos back?

Most projects take anywhere from 4 to 12 weeks, depending on the size of your collection and current project queue. I'll give you a realistic timeline estimate during our discovery call so you always know what to expect.

Are my photos safe?

Absolutely — and I want to be fully transparent about how I work. Your photos are handled with the utmost care from the moment I pick them up or you drop them off. Each client's photos are stored in their own clearly labeled boxes in my dedicated home office workspace, so there is zero comingling with other clients' collections — ever.

Once your photos are scanned and organized, your entire collection is uploaded to a secure, cloud-based library that is backed up and accessible only to you and whoever you choose to share it with.

I'm also a proud member of The Photo Managers, a professional organization that holds its members to the highest standards of care, ethics, and best practices in the industry.

Your memories are irreplaceable — and I treat every photo as if it were my own.

Why do business with me?

I’m Jerry Maurer, owner of PhotoFlyMemories and a Certified Photo Manager, based here on Long Island. I help families rescue and preserve photographs, photo albums, VHS tapes, 8mm film, and other family media by converting them into a safe, organized digital collection that can be easily viewed and shared on a TV, computer, tablet, or phone.

Being a Certified Photo Manager means I have professional training in the proper handling, organization, preservation, and digitization of family photo collections. I also follow a professional code of ethics, including confidentiality and the careful stewardship of the irreplaceable materials families place in my care.

A local, personal alternative

If you are looking at services such as iMemories, one of the biggest differences with PhotoFlyMemories is that you don't have to box up your irreplaceable family photos and memories and ship them across the country.

With me, you know exactly who is handling your family's collection from beginning to end.

I personally pick up your photos and media, bring them directly to my studio, and handle them with what I consider white glove care. I treat every collection as if it belonged to my own family because I understand that if something happens to an original photograph, album, videotape, or film, it may be impossible to replace.

For my Long Island clients, local pickup and delivery are complimentary. I also stay in touch throughout the project and provide weekly updates, so you always know where things stand and have me personally available if you have a question.

And you don't need to have everything perfectly sorted before we get started. That's one of the reasons families come to me in the first place.

Once I receive and review what you'd like to start with, I can prepare a Good Faith Estimate within 72 hours, with no obligation to move forward. From there, we can discuss what's most important to you, your budget, and whether it makes sense to complete everything at once or take the project in stages.

Most importantly, my goal is to take something that can feel overwhelming and make the entire process easy, personal, and comfortable for you.

I'd love to learn a little more about what you have and what you'd ultimately like to accomplish with your family's collection. Be sure to schedule an appointment for a brief phone call and we can go from there.
